Sapropelic tar – owing to its wound healing, anti-inflammatory, disinfective, insecticidal properties, as well as the local irritating property, is considered an extremely promising raw material for application in medicine and pharmaceutical industry.

Omsk State Medical Academy has worked out the original preparation for skin application «Sapropelic balsamic liniment», on the basis of sapropelic tar, by the present time. It is considered to be an invention and has been patented. This preparation is a modification of the Balsamic Liniment Wishnevsky, which meant substitution of the birch tar in the original formulation onto the tar, received of sapropel. The results analysis of the “Sapropelic balsamic liniment” application proved that the preparation has local therapeutic properties, analogous to the original one. At the same time, the application of this preparation is marked with more evident properties of wound clearance and granulation stimulation.
