HYDROPHOBIOS ORGANOMINERAL SORBENTS (Sibsorbent - 1)

Sorbent for oil and oil based products collection "Sibsorbent-1" is a hydrophobous organomineral oil sorbent. It is intended for collecting petroleum, oils, black oil and other insoluble organic pollution from water surface and any other surface within the wide range of temperatures, at any oil film thickness. The product is used at localization and liquidation of oil and oil products from water surface, for decontamination of oil-polluted soils on spot without preliminary removal of contaminated layer and soil sanation. It is also used for rendering harmless and canning waste petroleum and oil.

Application of "Sibsorbent"-type oil sorbents:

Clearing the water and ground from pollution caused by accidental spill of oil by absorption, transportation and processing; at petroleum railway and navy terminals, petroleum warehouses, petrochemical refineries, power objects.

Liquidation of oil pollution at water-purifying plants, trucks-fleets, gas-stations, boilers.

Individual use in living conditions in garages, workshops and other household outbuildings as a mean of pollution liquidation and environment protection.

Application of oil - sorbents such as "Sibsorbent"

Application of oil-sorbents such as "Sibsorbent" is similar to that of other powder sorbents. At absorption oil spills from water surface, first of all, the booms are applied. This is indispensable at any technology of cleaning. Then, sorbent is to be applied on the contaminated surface (mechanically or by hand) till the complete absorption of oil-film and formation of buoyant conglomerate. After that boom fence is to be tightened in order to concentrate the sorbent and oil mixture in spot, where it is convenient to remove it. Time required for non-hazard localization and liquidation spills depending on weather conditions must not exceed 24-72 hours after the accident. Usage of "Sibsorbent" - type sorbents, which possess long-lasting buoyancy, let considerably increase time reserves for taking preliminary measures for spills elimination. Oil sorbents similar to "Sibsorbent" are compatible with all kinds of basic equipment for sorbents application and removal.

Utilization of used sorbents can be realized by:

  • burning, for obtaining thermal energy
  • preliminary extraction of oil-products with further burning or placing into soil

As a whole all methods of used powder sorbents utilization (such as Sibsorbent) are non-polluting and inexpensive.

Sorbents were tested during the International drills on accidents liquidation on the river Irtysh in 1995, International drills on accidents liquidation in Tobolsk in 1999 and in laboratories of "Sibneft" (petroleum company) in Omsk in 1999.
